San José City College has named two new members of its executive leadership team, both effective July 1. Victoria Menzies joins as Vice President of Administrative Services, bringing more than 25 years of higher education experience, including a previous role at SJCC. Dr. René Alvarez has been promoted from Dean to Vice President of Student Services.

Take a Paws Closes a Chapter as Creator and Host Ganna Zgama Graduates, Prepares to Transfer

SJCC Valedictorian and Take a Paws creator Ganna Zgama recorded her final episode as co-host the day after Commencement, welcoming photographer Lilith Sanchez and San José City Council Member Pamela Campos as guests. Zgama, weighing transfers to UC Berkeley or USC, will be succeeded by student Ariana Ramirez this fall.

Stories of Resilience Take Center Stage at SJCC’s 103rd Commencement

San Jose City College held its 103rd annual commencement Thursday, with more than 450 students crossing the stage. The Class of 2026 includes 621 students earning 1,051 associate degrees and 643 students earning 753 certificates, ranging in age from 13 to 78. Valedictorian Ganna Zgama, a Ukrainian immigrant accepted to UC Berkeley, and ASG President Hazel Tran addressed graduates.
