SJCC Researchers Honored for Equity Planning Work

Three California community college administrators received the 2026 David Mertes Award for Excellence in Community College Research from the Association of California Community College Administrators. Dr. René Alvarez, Dr. Rowena Tomaneng and Dr. Joyce Lui were honored for research proposing that embedding equity frameworks into annual program reviews produces more consistent, measurable student outcomes.

MPC SNAPS Jaguars’ Win streak

San José City College’s run at its first conference title since 2010 ended in a close loss to Monterey Peninsula College, which claimed its third conference championship in a row. The Jags., however, still have a shot at a historic 8-win season if they can beat Hartnell College on Saturday at Jaguar Stadium.

jaguars beat Rams, 61-10, extending win streak

For the first time since 2010, the San José City College Jaguars won their sixth game of the season with a 61-10 win over the Gavilan Rams. The win also put the Jags at the top of the American Golden Coast Conference for the first time in 13 years.
