SJCC Professor Awarded IgnitEd Summer Fellowship

Selected as a 2019 IgnitED Teacher Fellow, SJCC Biology Professor Carlos Rojo has been placed by Ignited Education into a full-time, 6-week hands-on experience within Facebook’s Oculus division to research the use of virtual reality in education and training, and to develop his own VR lesson plan to engage and inspire SJCC’s students.

The Ignited Summer Fellowship Program is a unique professional development opportunity for educators to gain hands-on math, science, and technology experience while working side by side with the Bay Area’s leading industry, research, and university professionals.

Ignited provides extensive support services to ensure that the Fellowships are translated into updated curriculum and improved teaching practices. This Education Transfer Plan (ETP) lies at the very core of the Summer Fellowship Program and demonstrates the positive outcomes that can result from partnerships between industry, research, and education.
