“Publishers and editors from six California news companies endorsed the applications for Cal Press. A panel of three executives reviewed the applications. The grants go toward the purchase of new hardware or software, or for upgrades to improve the quality of the
publication’s content and delivery. Applicants submitted detailed essays describing their current equipment, its limitations, why they need new or upgraded equipment and how that equipment would improve their publications,” the award letter stated.
The mission of the California Press Foundation is to be the guardian of the history and traditions of California journalism, to recognize and honor contemporary achievements, to assure the future of California journalism through encouragement of education and to provide a social and educational forum for its members.
