By Michael Mooney, Director of the Milpitas College Extension
On October 23, the San Jose City College Milpitas Extension hosted a Partner Appreciation Luncheon to honor our community partners who made the first three years at the Extension an incredible success.

As Chancellor Breland noted in his remarks that just a few years ago there was a parking lot or empty field where he was standing, and now it’s a thriving Extension.
Remarkably, the Extension is located on Escuela Parkway across the street from Milpitas High School and Pomeroy Elementary School and next to Russell Middle School. Nowhere in the state, possibly the country, can a student go from kindergarten to college without leaving the neighborhood!
Approximately 60 community members attended the lunch including many local and SJECCD/SJCC leaders. One of the activities for the event was that each participant wrote three words about the Extension on a card.
The most common words were “community” and “opportunity.” It is obvious that Milpitas has embraced a community college in its midst and has taken advantage of the college services the Extension provides. Thank you, Milpitas!
