This month we celebrated Latinx Heritage Month with a guest lecture by Marcela Davison Aviles, Cultural Advisor. She is the Latina behind Disney-Pixar’s Hit Movie COCO.
The event in the SJCC theater attracted about 300 Coco fans who listened to Marcela give An insightful discussion on how Coco came about and its relevant cultural themes. Marcela unpacked different scenes to help us understand the cultural symbolism and messaging in the film.
The lecture was followed by a Q&A session led by theater instructor Anita Reyes and a reception in the Art Gallery.
