Lady Jags are Conference Champs; Both Men’s and Women’s teams go to Playoffs 

For the second straight year, the San José City College men’s and women’s basketball teams will make it to the playoffs with the goal of getting to the CCCAA state championship tournament.  

 The Lady Jaguars punched their ticket and claimed the South Coast Conference title by beating Hartnell College on Feb. 23 (50-41) at Percy Carr Gym. The Jags maintained their undefeated conference record, with Hartnell finishing second. The Lady Jags posted an overall season record of 25-3, ranking no. 19 out of the state’s top 25 community college basketball squads.   

 The men were resilient in the tough South Coast Conference led by no. 1 West Valley College and no. 6 Cabrillo College in second place. The no. 12 Jags finished third but sealed their playoff slot by beating Hartnell College on Feb. 23 (92-63) also at Percy Carr Gym.  

The men get a first-round bye and will play the winner of Wednesday’s game between West Hills Lemoore and San Joaquin Delta on Saturday at 7 pm. The women will take on Napa Valley College at Percy Carr Gym on Wednesday at 7 pm in the first round of the regional championships.
