San José City College celebrated its 105th anniversary Sept. 9 with cake, cupcakes and remarks from President Dr. Marilyn Flores in the Career Education Complex, coinciding with Student Club Day. Founded Sept. 12, 1921, SJCC has grown from 86 students to more than 16,000, honoring its history while building toward its second century.

Redwoods roll past Jaguars 41-21 as 47-year-old defensive lineman finally takes the field

Justin Buzzard, a 47-year-old pastor and father of three, finally got his college football moment Saturday, playing two snaps for San Jose City College against College of the Redwoods. He helped pressure the quarterback on a fourth-quarter sack. The Redwoods routed the Jaguars 41-21, but Buzzard’s cameo stole headlines.
